& Dependable
The hardest thing given up (in order to become a better caregiver) was being dependable. I was not very flexible so I had to learn to bend and roll with the punches. In the greater sense, that which I gave up (being dependable) gave way and became the greatest attribute: RELIABILITY.
Do not feel guilty for being less than perfect. Do not dwell on past shortcomings, mistakes, inadequacies, failures, errors, troubles, problems, foibles, and in a word, imperfections.
Concentrate instead on building success. Take heart in the fact that you are there now and be willing to do your best at THIS TIME. We may be called to stand up to problems and withstand certain pressures but we needn't stand alone. Strengthened by this resolve and with confidence position yourself to do the greater good for your care-receiver.
